You can buy those tiny ‘n dinky NUC dope stash boxes, but apparently not the Intel® NUC Laptop kits!? At least I haven’t found them on my many many shopping sites thus far.
Seems it is a “White-label product” right now, and Not meant for You ‘n me, at least not in the early Barebone stage:
A white-label product is a product or service produced by one company (the producer) that other companies (the marketers) rebrand to make it appear as if they had made it. The name derives from the image of a white label on the packaging that can be filled in with the marketer’s trade dress. White label products are sold by retailers with their own trademark but the products themselves are manufactured by a third party.
I had mentioned in the ‘can a $746.83 Dell XPS 13 be Converted into a Linux Laptop?’ post, that “Gamers seem to like that brand also, but with Windows 10,” i.e. the CLEVO laptop brand in both Barebones ‘n White-label forms. Guess Intel wants some of that Gamers laptop action also!
Intel has silently pushed the NUC X15 Laptop Kit out the door, its first reference gaming laptop. The NUC X15 has Tiger Lake processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs and up to a 240 Hz display.
However, Intel equips the entry-level model with a Core i5-11400H, a GeForce RTX 3060 and an FHD panel that peaks at 144 Hz. By contrast, all other configurations have a Core i7-11800H and a GeForce RTX 3070, along with a choice between a QHD/165 Hz display and an FHD/240 Hz one.
“entry-level” comes wid a ‘mere’ GeForce RTX 3060. 😮 Wonder if those are the 3.64 pounders I’ve read about?
Looks like they also have a “business-oriented notebook” wid a “13.9-inch touchscreen display with 3,000×2,000 resolution and 400 nits” – Intel unveils NUC P14E Laptop Element with swappable NUC 11 Compute Element.
Well, I’m not really interested in something this ‘new’ (2020???), that is not available to a basic consumer like me, in just the Barebones NUC laptop form.
This post isn’t going to make it to the Laptops – New Lappys ‘n Converted Lappys ‘n Barebone Lappys page. I love the idea, but right now am looking for a Barebones version of a NUC laptop, that is non-touch display ‘n smaller ‘n lighter. Don’t believe I’ve even seen it in a new OEM white-label product version yet…i.e. Intel seems slow on getting this product out, for some reason.
- UPDATE 9/22/2021: Looks like I have found some @ Connection. Home >> Products dropdown menu ‘n select Laptops >> Manufacturer dropdown menu ‘n select Intel:
So they are out there…in the 15.6″ display size.
Intel NUC Kits are known for packing serious performance and features into impressively small form factors. Now, Intel has brought the power of Intel NUC to laptops in a thin design that’s ultra-mobile. Intel NUC Laptop kits deliver the performance that gamers and content creators demand, all without the long development time.
Haven’t seen them on my normal shopping sites tho, and just stumbled onto this Google search Link. That shows some @ these sites:
OK…glad I found some, even tho it was after posting this. It’s an “Update” that I don’t like adding to posts, but it’ll have to work this time. Can also do a Twitter on it since I didn’t do one yesterday on it.
Will now add it to the ‘Laptops – New Lappys ‘n Converted Lappys ‘n Barebone Lappys‘ page, under the Barebone Lappys section…
LINUX IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES – you never know what you’re gonna get!
