I’m no left-wing Socialist/Fascist/Communist/Nazi/ Progressive (all the same, BTW) demanding that others follow their demands and/or beliefs or face lots of time in some ‘Re-education Camps’ (at best!); however, I do like the idea of Microsoft offering it to the FOSS and/or Linux community, if they can do so without corrupting or endangering Windows 10.
This Free Software Foundation (FSF) is basically just another one of the Antifa-ish left-wing ‘Do-Gooders’ groups making demands of others, but not as violently as Antifa…perhaps. Here is the FSF site where you can sign their petition…they want name and email addy, and say that they will send an email with a link that confirms your signing (to also avoid repeat signings) after you click it – a little slow being sent, and may end up in your spam folder so check there if you haven’t seen it for 6-7 hours.
- We demand that Windows 7 be released as free software. Its life doesn’t have to end. Give it to the community to study, modify, and share.
- We urge you to respect the freedom and privacy of your users – not simply strongarm them into the newest Windows version.
- We want more proof that you really respect users and user freedom, and aren’t just using those concepts as marketing when convenient.
Socialists/Fascists/Communists/Nazis/ Progressives *ALWAYS* have demands…they can’t stop themselves, e.g. they’ll even train and use children like Greta Thunberg to push their demands even further.
Would never join such a group, but did sign their petition to ‘Upcycle’ Windows 7. Here are some reasons why I signed it: 1) Windows 7 was apparently the end of Microsoft’s previous distribution method of totally new OSes replacing the old, i.e. Windows 10 apparently just renews (forever?). 2) Microsoft has made some big changes under CEO Satya Nadella, and some of those moves were towards helping Linux. 3) Linux has been trying to make a good desktop/laptop OS for almost 30 years, so giving them Windows 7 is probably not much of a threat to Microsoft.
Free Software Foundation (FSF) also attacked Windows 7 back in 2009:
A lot has changed since the FSF’s controversial Windows 7 Sins campaign in 2009, which depicted throwing Windows in the trash. This time around, let’s share an image encouraging Microsoft to do the right thing. Let’s #UpcycleWindows7.
Windows 7 Sins … Well, these Antifa-ish left-wing groups are driven by their hatred, which is always worrisome. Without such *HATE* these groups would just collapse. Most are just ‘Do-Gooders’ who have allowed ego and hatred to blind them … i.e. attacking the ‘Sins’ of Microsoft and proprietary software whilst promoting that only their own beliefs/methods are good.
Anyway, I’ve dumped my Windows 7 disk in a remote box with my Windows Vista disk, and have moved to Windows 10…enough said.
‘There were five forms of governance that migrated from theory to reality in the 20th Century: Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Nazism and Progressivism. The common denominator among them was unprecedented control and regulation by the State over human activity. It is delusional to think that the totalitarian impulse expired with the 20th Century.‘
